Waterlution for New Zealanders
Donna Caddie is working with Waterlution to bring water learning experiences to New Zealand. Waterlution is a Canadian not-for-profit social enterprise that facilitates weekend long water learning experiences for young professionals from all sectors involved in water. Waterlution's vision is for the next generation of decision-makers- across all sectors and stakeholder groups - to be strong, informed leaders with a passion for and commitment to healthy catchments. Massey University MBA SuststainAbility day
Fluent Environmental facilitated an all-day workshop on sustainability for 70 Massey University MBA students. Throughout the day students grapple with deep structural issues associated with leadership, sustainability, business and environmental resilience. They explored the nexus between energy, water, food and climate as well as the role of education and urban centres in motivating change. The group were challenged to build a long term strategy with practical solutions that would maximise NZ's position in this period of global change.
Hawke's Bay Regional Water Strategy
Fluent Environmental is providing services to the Hawke's Bay Regional Council relating to the project management and policy development of the Regional Water Strategy. This includes policy analysis and facilitating an external reference group for wider iwi and stakeholder input into the strategy.Massey University Sustainability Planning
Fluent Environmental worked with the Massey University sustainability steering group to identify a strategy and action plan to embed sustainability thinking accross the University's mandate.
Hawke's Bay Regional Water Symposium
This two-day event was held in Napier on November 31 and December 1 2010. The event was hosted by the Hawke’s Bay Regional Council and will inform the development of the regional water strategy. Fluent Environmental provided services relating to agenda development, co-facilitation, meeting materials development and project management. Fluent Environmental has analysed the input from the event and wrote the event's report.
EIANZ Conference Professional Development
Fluent Environmental lead a Professional Development workshop on Community and Stakeholder Consultation at EIANZ's conference in Wellington, October 28th. The session helped attendees to design and implement communications and consultation activities that target more than ‘the usual suspects’.
British Columbia's Water Act Modernization
Before establishing Fluent Environmental, Fluent Environmental's Director Donna was a key team member in British Columbia's Water Act Modernization initiative. Responsibilities included:policy development, communications development and engagement activities (2008-2010)
Living Water Smart: British Columbia's Water Plan
Before establishing Fluent Environmental, Fluent Environmental's Director Donna was responsible for the project management, communications, policy development and cross-government coordination of Living Water Smart: British Columbia’s Water Plan. Implementing the plan involved 12 government ministries and a wide range of water interests and stakeholders.
Since 2003, the director of Fluent Environmental has been involved in several community and stakeholder engagement initiatives. Responsibilities have ranged from project management, communications development, meeting logistics and organisation, agenda development, presenting, facilitating, and summarising and reporting input. Specific projects have included:
- British Columbia Water Act modernization provincial engagement (12 full day workshops, 4 First Nation Specific)
- Living Water Smart: BC's Water Plan - awareness and outreach activities (2+ years worth of meetings)
- Set up of Western Water Stewardship Council (Western Canada initiative) and founding working group member
- Talk Environment Roadshows in 2004, 2005, 2006 (32 meetings, 16 locations 2 teams out consecutively)
- Promoting Environmental Wellbeing under the Local Government Act 2002 on behalf of MfE
- NZ National Environmental Standard for Measurement of Water Takes (4 meetings) and submission analysis
- NZ Sustainable Water Programme of Action Ministerial tour (five meetings in 2006) and Water Awareness Campaign (support role)
